About Me – Paola Yepes

Hello! My name is Paola Yepes, I’m 49 years old, a Licensed Professional in Industrial Relations, with 25 years of teaching experience. I am also a writer, lecturer, business consultant, and passionate traveler.

My love for traveling began when my children grew up and started their own lives. Suddenly, I found myself with time, energy, and a lifelong dream waiting to be fulfilled. When the empty nest arrived, I decided to let go of everything I owned, pack my life into just two suitcases, and set out to travel. I wanted to explore every corner of Colombia—the same places I used to talk about in class with my students. That journey led me to create Travel and Learn Online, where I combine my greatest passions with the work I love most: teaching Spanish.

My Story as a Teacher, Author & Traveler

The Teacher

I have had the privilege of teaching students of all ages—from 4 to 80 years old—from countries all around the world. For me, teaching is like planting seeds across the globe: sowing love for the Spanish language, a language that is romantic, precise, expressive, and deeply human. From these experiences, I’ve learned that language learning is not only about grammar, but about emotional connections. I believe that every learning process is tied to meaningful experiences, and this is what I offer to my students: the opportunity to live unforgettable moments through Spanish, in a way that can even transform their lives.

The Traveler

Being a traveler myself helps me understand the real needs of travelers and expats. I know how valuable time is during a trip, which is why I designed my Traveler’s Spanish Program: a one-week course (5 days, 2 hours per day) focused on providing the essential Spanish skills you need to keep learning and practicing during your journey.

Our Teaching Philosophy at Travel and Learn Online

At Travel and Learn Online, we believe that learning a language should be: Confidence-Oriented: We don’t just teach grammar—we build your confidence to speak. Simple & Practical: Our approach is straightforward, conversational, and based on real-life travel situations. Life-Connected: Students begin creating sentences and conversations from day one, developing the ability to communicate effectively and comfortably in Spanish. I also enrich my classes with lessons about Latin American culture, Colombian biodiversity, and local recommendations so that visitors can connect more deeply with the people and places they encounter.

The Travel and Learn Online Difference

Live Group Classes: Classes run from Monday to Friday, 8 am – 10 am (Colombia time), with a different theme each day. The schedule repeats weekly, so if you miss a class, you can join it the following week.

Recordings & Materials: Every class is recorded and comes with downloadable interactive materials so you can review at your own pace.

Community & Exchange: We offer conversation forums with native Spanish speakers, as well as reading and writing clubs for extra practice.

Traveler-to-Traveler Experience: This is a Spanish program designed by a traveler, for travelers—practical, flexible, and adapted to your journey.

And since I’m often traveling myself, who knows? We might even cross paths along the way through one of the experiences available on the website.

Final Invitation

I truly believe that to experience Colombia—or any Spanish-speaking country—you must live it through its language. That is why my mission is to guide you in learning Spanish while giving you the tools, confidence, and cultural insight to make your travels richer and more meaningful.
